FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

ART PRINTS

Our Giclée fine art prints are open editions, unless otherwise stated, and printed onto archival quality fade resistant paper using pigment ink. All prints are available in sizes ranging from A5-A0. Get in touch if you’re interested in a custom-sized print that is not listed in the shop. We recommend you keep your prints out of direct sunlight, and store them in their original packaging until they’re framed. Avoid touching the printed surface (ie: handle on the edges or wear protective gloves). Adhesive tape may change the fastness of the print colour & quality.

CERAMICS

Our ceramics are made by hand in our Melbourne studio, in small batches, and each piece is a one-off. They are stoneware fired and may or not be glazed - check listings for details. Ceramic functional ware pieces are food safe. Hand washing is recommended. Ceramic earrings are made using porcelain and paperclay. Most are unglazed, which gives them a lovely matt finish, though check listings for more information. We use hypoallergenic stainless steel findings. As they are made from clay, our earrings are fragile and may break if dropped onto a hard surface, so please handle with care. Wipe clean with a damp cloth and water.

composting

All off-cuts are recycled or, even better, composted, where possible. This includes leftover card from paper trimming, packaging boxes we can’t reuse (from supplies we’ve ordered in) and even tiny fabric scraps!

FRAMING

For custom framing, we recommend Ernest Studios (located in the inner west of Melbourne) and have heard good things about Frames Readymade (in Lygon Street East Brunswick). For readymade frames, Country Road Adler frames work well with our prints. We only recommend frames with glass (not plastic/perspex), as it protects the print (and looks a lot better!)

Illustration

All of our illustrations are original art and copyrighted. If you’re interested in commissioning an illustration, we’d love to hear from you. You can see some examples of our custom and client work here. We also offer house illustration commissions, available as fine art prints or downloadable digital files. You can see some examples here, book a commission via the shop and if you have any questions let us know here. We also have a series of illustration fine art giclee prints for sale. See them all here.

INK & FABRIC

We only work with natural fabric including hemp, organic cotton (GOTS certified) and linen. Ink is all Australian made, water based, ecofriendly and non-toxic.

PACKAGING

Packaging is kept to a minimum and we only use responsibly sourced, ecofriendly materials. If necessary, products are wrapped in biodegradable cellophane to ensure they are protected during the shipping process and are then packaged in 100% recycled kraft paper, a compost-biodegradable tough bag or an Australian-made box. The clear packing tape we use is biodegradable, and the recycleable kraft packing tape we use is made from responsibly sourced material. Art prints are shipped flat in a sturdy cardboard mailer or in a heavy duty tube. We try to use as little bubblewrap as possible, and where it is needed, we try to reuse what we have on hand.

PAPER GOODS

Screenprinted paper goods are printed in-house, in our Melbourne studio. Other paper goods, including greeting cards and postcards, are printed locally, in Victoria where possible. Paper used includes 100% recycled post-consumer stock, 100% cotton fine art paper and cotton canvas. Greeting cards come with a 100% recycled kraft envelope. Products are wrapped in Australian-made tissue paper and we use stickers printed with soy-based ink.

SCREENPRINTed textiles & FINE ART PRINTS

Screen printed fabric and textiles are printed in Melbourne, either in our studio or at a local screen printing business. They are professionally heat set and are therefore colour fast, but the ink will fade over time with washing. Fabric is pre-washed but please expect some additional shrinkage. Screen printed art prints are printed in our studio, using hand mixed ink colours. Due to the hand printing process, each item is unique and may not look exactly like the photo in its listing (but will be very close to it!)

SHIPPING & returns

Locally, we ship with Sendle, Australia's first 100% carbon neutral shipping service, where possible, and Australia Post (including Express Post). Internationally, we use Sendle and Australia Post. For more information, please see Shipping and Returns.

Stock levels may vary depending on availability. Please note that all orders can be cancelled at any time, at the discretion of the seller (though this rarely if ever happens!)

WHOLESALE

If you run a shop and are interested in becoming a stockist of Spin Spin products please get in touch and tell us a bit about your store and what makes it so great, and also which products you're interested in. Note that only some products are available for wholesale, due to the handmade and small batch nature of production.
